Cohesive
Gel Implants
Available
in Europe and elsewhere in the world since 1993, but not in
the United States, is the McGhan-Inamed cohesive gel implants.
This is one of the most significant advances yet in implant
technology.
The
McGhan-Inamed cohesive gel implants uses cohesive silicone
gel filler. Not liquid silicone. You can take a pair of scissors
and cut a pie-shaped wedge out of this implant, squeeze the
implant, and the filler material will not migrate from the
implant. If there is a rupture of the implant inside the body,
there will be less risk of filler material migration to
the rest of the body than with other fillers. The silicone
cohesive gel-fill in this implant is designed to maintain
its shape, and does not flow if the shell is ruptured. These
implants are supposed to last longer than other implants.
This technology is on track for eventual use in the USA

Cohesive
Gel Round Implants
An
advantage of the McGhan-Inamed cohesive gel implants
is that they are available in round and anatomical
shape. With the round implants, the upper
part of the breast will look rounder and fuller. Some women
prefer a rounded shape for her breasts in these cases the
round implants are a good alternative. Another consideration
is that the round cohesive gel implants are less expensive
than the anatomical shaped implants.
