¿Submuscular or Subglandular?

Placement of the implant behind the chest muscles seems to lower the chance of capsular contracture.

Subglandular
Submuscular

In most of the cases, Dr. Pino recommends the submuscular or under the pectoralis muscle placement of the implant. Muscle coverage is an important issue. It is our experience that if only a layer of skin and thin fat covers the implant, when the swelling disappears the breast is more likely to look and feel like an implant.

When the implants are placed in subglandular position or on top of the muscle, the implants may interfere with cancer detection through mammography.
